eBay Selling Tips - A beautiful picture

Written by BMon on October 2, 2008 – 2:24 pm -

camera Quite possibly the most important tip, YOU MUST HAVE A PICTURE!  And also make sure its a good one.

Its only natural that a buyer should want to see what they are buying and the condition it is in.  If an advert doesn’t have a picture then there is a feeling that the seller may not actually have the item, or that its condition may be poor.  While a picture by no means guarantees either quality or whether or not they actually have the item its subconscious effect is to reassure the potential buyer and that is what its all about.

Also, rather than just the front of the box why not show the contents so buyers can see the manual and disc are there and looking good?  Again, this just reassures the buyer that the seller has nothing to hide and the game is the genuine article.

eBay has recently introduced free picture hosting, adding a picture no longer costs you any extra so there really is no excuse.  It may save you a few minutes when putting the add together, but the negative effect on the final selling price is huge.

eBay Buying Tips - Search in the right category

Written by BMon on October 1, 2008 – 2:10 pm -

magglass Again, this may sound obvious, but most people simply type the item they are looking for in to the search box. In the case of video games this can mean you miss a number of auctions (and it’s these auctions where you have a good chance of finding a bargain).
For example, if you are searching for Beowolf for PS3 then search for ‘Beowolf’ in the PS3 section rather than ‘Beowolf PS3′.  Including ‘PS3′ in the search means the auction must include PS3 in the name and a few don’t so you’ll miss these out.

The UsedVideoGame.co.uk shop is already organised into categories by console you won’t miss anything in there.  Just go to the console of your choice and search for the game or use the quick links to the right of this page.  Over coming weeks we’ll be adding a comprehensive directory of game reviews for al platforms with direct links to game auctions.

eBay Selling Tips - Great condition

Written by BMon on September 30, 2008 – 2:10 pm -

clean The first in our run of tips on buying and selling used video games is all about condition.  Its pretty obvious really, but your games need to be in as good condition as possible.  This doesn’t take much effort, but is more about a long term way of treating your games rather than something you can do just before you sell them.

Essentially, just don’t handle the case very much, keep it out of the sun and make sure you don’t scratch the disk!  These days you rarely need to consult the printed instructions so leave them alone if you can as well.  That is pretty much it, but you’d be amazed how many games look like they’ve been on a trek through a jungle or used as a plate at a kids birthday party!

There really is no need for a game to look any worse than the day you bought it so make the decision to do this from today and your games will keep their value really well.
